Spare me. Having Twenty20 being bleated out all over yonder was bad enough, but the mere thought of test matches becoming a day shorter because of Twenty20 is nigh on sickening.

James Sutherland has said that 'the concept was not a "developed thought", but indicated the willingness of cricket's leaders to modernise the game'. Really now? Wasn't Twenty20 modern enough for you?

As many of the members of this forum know, I am a devoted rugby league supporter. It is my pride, my passion, so i hate it when 'respected journalists' such as Rebbecca Wilson will go out of their way to ratify and destroy the lives and careers of players of the greatest game of all.

Test matches are the pinnacle of cricket - just ask any cricket-obsessed Aussie. We all dreamed of striding out onto the hallowed turf of the M.C.G on Boxing Day, taking a 5-fa or scoring a ton in a 5-day thriller.

But those dreams might vanish from the minds of the next generation, with the ICC hell-bent on changing the structure of test cricket. First it was the idea of day-night test matches, and now it is the distinct possibility of shortening test matches from 5 days to 4....
