| Administrator  | Middlesex are attempting to land another big name overseas star for the domestic Twenty20 tournament, with the county in talks with India's Yuvraj Singh. The county were originally hoping to add Sachin Tendulkar to their T20 squad, alongside Adam Gilchrist who has already signed on, but Tendulkar is focussing on prolonging his international career - if only so he can ensure his stats are better than Ricky Ponting's come retirement time. Yuvraj clubbed Stuart Broad for six sixes in 2007 and he, alongside Gilchrist, would go a long way to giving Middlesex a powerful batting line-up. Middlesex won the title in 2008 but were disappointing last year, so have turned to big name international stars in a bid to get back on track (and draw in a few Aussie and Indian ex-pats, no doubt). Gus Fraser, the head honcho at Middlesex, admitted the county had been in talks with Yuvraj. "The contract is not in place at this moment in time, but we're in communication and it seems to be going quite positively," he said. The deal would be part-financed by the MCC, but Cricinfo suggests India's international schedule may yet scupper the coup for Middlesex. Full story |
