Roy Symonds says he's perfectly content without international cricket in his life and has no desire to return to the top level.

Released from the constraints of his Cricket Australia contract, Symonds is now free to have a beer - or sixty - while watching State of Origin, or to call an international player a 'lump of shit' without fear of a spell on the CA naughty step.

Symonds is now just operating as a freelance T20 specialist, contracted to both Queensland and Deccan, meaning he gets to spend a lot more time at home.

"I've been at home and enjoying being at home, fishing, crabbing, seeing my mates, sleeping in my own bed," he said.

"So I'm just enjoying being at home for an extended period of time and doing what I want to do when I want to do it and being able to spend time with people I haven't been able to spend a lot of time with over the last however many years."

Roy says he's been in touch with a few of the Aussie team but hasn't been watching the cricket. He's got better things to do, after all. And those better things do not include any form of the game longer than 20 overs a side.

"I don't see any point of me playing the longer version," he said. "I'm not looking to play state cricket, I'm not looking to play international cricket, I'm looking to play the shortest version so I can enjoy that and pay the bills through that."

James Sutherland, you can safely offload the CA wooden spoon used for punishing Roy to Ebay. He ain't coming back.

Little does he realize that the lack of practice & excessive beers will only ruin his chances in T20's as well....
