Well, Andy Roddick used Twitter today for something far from inane: he used the medium to apologise for his bad language and behaviour on court, after getting into yet another spat with an umpire. Roddick left the court in a rage, having peppered the chair umpire with plenty of expletives after a contentious call denied him his first match point. The ball was initially ruled out, meaning Roddick had won the game - but was overruled on challenge. “I’m standing there with my racket back—don’t you think I’m going to %)@*#%# hit it?" yelled Roddick. “It’s not your job to predict if I’m going to hit it. It’s your job to decide if I could hit it.” The American had failed to shake the umpire's hand, though on Twitter he claimed that he did not snub him intentionally. “Did not realize that i didnt shake the umpires hand we were mid argument and i guess it didnt happen not a conscious decision," he wrote. “Apologies for the language today folks hopefully most kids were asleep by the time I went off …… my bad." Roddick has set the trend for using the social networking site to apologise - one that Serena Williams may follow, if she loses her temper on court and threatens to kill an official like last year.
