The father of Dizzy Gillespie, Australia's first Aboriginal Test cricketer, says that pressure from India and other cricket playing nations will lead to John Howard's nomination for ICC Prez being scuppered.

Neil Gillespie has written to the board of every Test playing nation as he campaigns against the nomination, and impending appointment, of Howard for one of the game's most important positions.

"I am amazed that anyone would nominate Mr Howard in view of his continuing discrimination publicly exhibited against Aboriginal people by denying access to justice to our mob,'' he said.

He said he hoped that "'someone will see reason and recognise this person is not an appropriate choice to head an organisation that comprises a majority of black nations because of his stance against Aboriginal people''.

It's no doubt a divisive appointment: at time of writing, our scientific polling revealed that 51% of Stick Sports users think John Howard would make a good ICC President.

Even his margin in Bennelong, his seat, was bigger than that prior to him being ousted from office.

Perhaps in a bid to gain some support from India, Howard was full of compliments for the number one ranked Test side in the world.

"I think it's entirely wrong to look at the Indian involvement in cricket in a negative light. I think of those millions of people in India and the sub-continent... who play cricket. They play it with a passion and love it," Howard said.

Howard shares the sentiments of an Adolf Hitler, but possesses about 1/3 of the IQ.

Who would have thought that after Sharad Pawar it could actually get worse.

Well I would have estimated around 20-25% of Stick Sports users were either racist or ignorant. I guess you learn something new every day.

I have to agree with zeospeed on this one, and I never reckoned I'd say that. Howard is a racist twat - can't he retire in peace and leave the world alone?

Even if comparing him to Hitler is a little harsh.

For the last time, Gillespie is not aboriginal. His great-great-grandfather was. He is not. However, if we are judging nationality through this criteria, does this make me scottish?
