If there wasn't already enough on Alex Ferguson's mind ahead of the second leg of the Carling Cup semi-final - United lost the away leg 2-1 - he may be without defender Rio Ferdinand.

Fergie was said to be furious - it's very unlike him to rage about officials - at the FA's decision to charge Ferdinand with violent conduct over an incident during United's 4-0 win over Hull on the weekend.

It was Ferdinand's first match back after a three month stint on the sideline and, if he pleads guilty to the charge, he will cop an automatic three match ban.

But Fergie's gripe is with the timing of the charge, as he believes it wouldn't have been unreasonable for the FA to delay the charge instead of disrupting United's preparations for the second leg.

It's not just the FA Fergie is at war with: he has banned Sky Sports from attending the United training ground and Friday's pre-match presser, as he's annoyed the channel had the audacity to show repeated replays of Gary Neville flipping Tevez the bird.
