Button given MBE

The English trend of gifting sports stars MBEs after a bit of success has continued, with the reigning F1 champ Jenson Button included in the New Year Honours List.

Button said the MBE was the "crowning glory" of a successful year, as it followed his winning the drivers' title with a race to spare and his team, Brawn GP, winning the constructors' title.

He has since made the move to McLaren, to be alongside fellow Brit Lewis Hamilton for the 2010 season.

The 29-year-old said he was "incredibly proud" to have received the honour, rattling off a list of past winners associated with F1.

There was no mention, however, of Paul Collingwood.
