Brett Lee's Test career is over, the paceman has himself confirmed.

Rumours have filled the back pages of Aussie papers in the past week suggesting Lee might follow the lead of the likes of Andrew Flintoff and retire from the longer forms of the game, in a bid to extend his one-day and Twenty20 career.

The paceman watched with frustration during the Ashes tour as injury, and the success of his colleagues, prevented a return to the top level.

He hadn't played a Test match since the Boxing Day game of 2008 against South Africa, when a foot injury ended his home summer early. That game, at the place of his debut, will have been his last Test.

But Lee hopes to continue playing and is aiming to force his way back into the one-day side with a view to playing in the 2011 World Cup.

''If I can be there at the 2011 World Cup, if I could achieve that goal, I would be more than happy to walk away,'' he said.

Lee finishes his Test career with 310 wickets from 76 games... and one truly horrible chart-topping pop song. Let's hope the extra time he has around the house doesn't inspire a follow up single.
