More Pakistani Problems

kirby March 11, 2010 (Pad First)
Just when you think Pakistan cricket's internal problems couldn't get any worse, this happens; the obviously jaded and fed up Pakistan Cricket Board has come out and handed down punishments to 7 of its key players in the aftermath of the recently unsuccessful tour of Australia.

OK, so anyone with a brain and an iota of cricketing knowledge knows that Pakistan’s recent Antipodean forays have been a debacle. Only some inspired bowling in the second test and Kiwi summer rain in the third saved them from dropping a series there, and since there is no such thing as summer rain in Australia (this New Years Day in Sydney excepted) nothing could save them as they blew a near-certain test victory at the SCG before going to sleep for the rest of the series until a minor fightback...

Hey, hey, hey hey
There'll be pay from our sponsors tonight

My gut was wrenched out it was crunched up and broken
A life that was led is no more than a token
Now there's no real legends left, just tell me why
If I yell at the players there's a reply of no wickets
The media's no comfort, I can't speak my sentence

The crown is in disarrary

Now that both Pietersen and Moores have resigned there will be plenty of focus on the whole system of English cricket.

They have relied on Pietersen now for a while, and I'm sure his future captain (who we shall call Strauss) would love to have him stay in the line-up.

They have not, however, relied on Moores at all, it seems, for any good results. The team has not moved forwards at a time when it should.

The next best candidate for the captain is Strauss,...
