Top 10 Paintball Tips

This weekend I'll embark on another paintball campaign thanks to a mate getting married. Paintballing is hard work, it hurts and at the end of the day, there isn't always a winner. But with my Top 10 Paintball Tips (I find the pictures really help illustrate each tip too), you can make the most of any paintball mission!
1. Don't get hit!
Seems pretty simple doesn't it. But many seem to forget this simple rule. The aim of the game is to complete your mission. Obviously getting killed (sometimes multiple times) really doesn't help you or your team mates achieve that goal.

2. Don't be a hero!
No doubt most of you have grown up in a Hollywood world. In this mythical world, the hero never seems to get hit, no matter how many bullets are fired at him. So, being a hero is the right option yeah? WRONG! If you try to be a hero, you will get hit. Lots. And it hurt. Lots. Don't be a hero....

3. Keep moving!
Do you ever wonder why the little ducks at the carnival (that are seemingly impossible to hit) are moving? Cause stuff that moves is harder to hit.

4. Get to high ground
Higher ground gives you the better advantage. So, one of the first things you'll want to do is try and secure the highest piece of ground. Then you can rain paint on your hapless opponents below.

5. Work together
This is perhaps on the simplest rules and one that is most often forgotten. A well oiled unit will always outclass a bunch of better individuals. Teamwork is the key, it covers your arse.

6. Communication is key
I could be writing a Top 10 Corporate Tips here almost but the fact remains, communication is important if you hope to succeed. How else can you work together without good communication?

7. Real estate
Almost as important as high ground, real estate can make or break a game. Secure the valuable defensive pieces as quickly as and use them as a base to make your attack.

8. Plan, plan, plan
If time permits, it's always best to flesh out a quick plan of attack before the game begins. Give clear orders to your troops and make sure everyone understands their role and the overall mission.

9. Aim, then fire
A rookie mistake is to fire a few rounds of first, then think to aim. Not only to you waste valuable (and expensive) paintballs, but it also gives away your position to the enemy giving them amble time to either fire back or move to a safer position. The kill shot is then much harder!

10. Fair play
No one likes a cheater. Especially when the dude cheating has the ability to leave you with a bruise the size of your fist. Remember, cheaters lose friends fast so play by the rules. For instance, nearly naked girls playing would be cheating (but I guess I'd get over it).
