Twenty20: magnifier of errors, victim of weather

apwebster June 6, 2009

With the groups stage of the World Twenty20 over in a flash, every game is crucial, and things like the Great British Weather or a missed run-out chance will ultimately make the difference between success and failure.

For England, rain on Sunday could see them eliminated from the tournament, and it would only take one shock result to see any of the other sides who were expected to make the Super Eight find themselves in a similar position.

I just hope that in a fortnight's time, everyone is talking about great performances like Tom de Grooth's in the opening match, rather than Duckworth-Lewis calculations or individual error.

So far, though, the cricket has been riveting. Here's to more of the same.
