Terry in sex scandal

John Terry may lose the England captaincy after an alleged affair with former team-mate and close mate Wayne Bridge's girlfriend was made public.

Terry had been using the courts to keep the story from being published, but an injunction was overturned yesterday and Britain's tabloids wasted no time in shaming the England skipper.

2009's Dad of the Year has, it seems, been doing a Wayne Carey: romping with his best mate's partner behind Bridge's back. Bridge is said to be "in bits" after the revelations and considering retirement from international football, to avoid playing alongside Terry.

The pair were team mates at Stamford Bridge until Bridge moved to Eastlands early last year, and were also best mates.

Rumours about Terry's fling with Bridge's missus, a 28-year-old underwear model, circulated among journalists and agents last week - leading to Terry getting an injunction to prevent publication.

But the decision to overturn the injunction means Terry's family man image, his dreams of leading England to a World Cup victory and, presumably, his relationship with his best mate, are now all in tatters.
