Gayle: Watson is soft

The Australia-West Indies Test series may be over, but the sledging continues - with Shane Watson and Chris Gayle continuing to trade barbs through the media.
The latest jibe comes from Chris Gayle, who - in response to Watson's claim he had been baited when he acted like a complete tool at the WACA - has labelled Watson "soft". "He's so easy to get wound up over silly things," said the Windies skipper. "He only looks big and strong, but he's soft." Watson's childish celebration of Gayle's dismissal earned him a rebuke from the match referee, his captain, and mostly a negative response from even Australian fans - with anti-Watto groups on Facebook swelling in numbers. But his attempts to defend his actions, seen below, reflect even more poorly on the so-called all-rounder, who has long had a reputation as someone easily provoked. According to The Australian, a former cricketer used to boast about the fact he'd wind Watto up - knowing full well that Watson would drop the ball short out of frustration. Full story |

What Watson did was out of order and he should be punished. I am neutral being an England supporter, but the Aussies get away with eveything and this is going to be another thing they get away with. But I can say with a high degree of certainty if that wasn't an Australian with that celebration they would be punished. It has become apparent that the rule book for the Aussies isn't the same rule book for everyone else.
