Briatore ban overturned
by The Bunyip January 5, 2010
Former Renault boss Flavio Briatore is free to return to Formula One racing, after a French court overturned his life ban.
Briatore had been banished from the sport for the rest of his life after being found guilty of rigging the Singapore Grand Prix in 2009 by ordering one of his drivers to crash. But he claimed that Max Mosley, former President of the FIA, was waging a vendetta against him. The engineering guru for Renault, who was also handed a ban, also had the decision overturned. Not only were the bans ruled illegal, but the FIA will now have to pay damages to the pair: £13,500 to Briatore and £4,500 to Symonds. Full story |
