Top 10 Sports Movies
This week we'll be looking at the Top 10 Sports Movies. As always, these topics are very subjective so feel free to leave some comments on your favourite sports movies as well!
#10 - Karate Kid
"First learn stand, then learn fly. Nature rule, Daniel-san, not mine."
A classic 80s movie, The Karate Kid no doubt started legions of little punks running around kicking stuff and doing the crane kick to their brothers and sisters.

#9 - Remember The Titans
"This is no democracy. It is a dictatorship. I am the law."
Based on the true story of a newly appointed African-American football coach and his high school team on their first season as a racially integrated unit. It's one downfall would be it's too hollywood.

#8 - The Mighty Ducks
"Quack, quack, quack, quack, quack!"
From Hollywood to Disney, next up with The Mighty Ducks. Lets be honest, it's a kids movie. Nothing can change that but it brought ice hockey to a bigger stage, promoting it globally to a much broader audience. Plus, who could forget a cute little Joshua Jackson!

#7 - Jerry Maguire
"Show me the MONEY!"
Tom Cruise stars as the sports agent who has a moral epiphany and is subsequently fired for his new found wisdom. The transformation of Cruise's character throughout the film from money-obsessed agent to caring human being makes the film worthwhile. Also, the little kid in the film is awesome.

#6 - Green Street Hooligans
"You don't run, not when you're with us... You stand your ground and fight!"
It's stereotyped and it didn't win any awards but it's refreshing to see a film finally tackling the subject matter that unfortunately has been a shameful factor of Britain's attitude towards football due to the bad behaviour of soccer hooligans.

#5 - Days of Thunder
"And rubbin, son, is racin'!"
It hurts me somewhat to include not one but two Tom Cruise movies but alas, for I must. Cruise is a young hot-shot driver giving his chance at the top level. I like the movie simply for the names of some of the drivers - Rowdy Burns, Cole Trickle and Russ Wheeler!

#4 - Field of Dreams
"If you build it, he will come."
It's American and it's corny (pun intended, I'm sorry). Kevin Costner hears some voices while out playing in his corn field and decides he should build a baseball pitch instead harvesting the crop.

#3 - Happy Gilmore
"That's your HOME! Are you too good for your HOME?"
Happy Gilmore stands the test of time. This movie shot Adam Sandler to fame and is well deserved in it's number 3 spot. Has some classic lines that nearly 15 years later, are still used regularly by people who have seen this movie.

#2 - Rocky
"Yo, Adrian!"
Rocky is about a man. It is the story of a man who exceeds past all normal expectations and makes the most out of what he is doing. What is he doing? Boxing. Why? As Rocky says in the film, "You have to be a moron to want to box." The original and still the best.

#1 - White Men Can't Jump
"The sun even shines on a dog's ass some days!"
The constant trash talking ("Oh, my momma's an astronaut?") is what really makes this tale of playground hoops shine. The best-of-five shooting scene near the beginning that introduces the Harrelson-Snipes dynamic is dynamite!
